The City of Laval is bustling with activity and its territory is under significant development. The Legal Affairs Department proudly handles all legal matters for the City. Under the authority of the immediate supervisor, as a lawyer, you will represent the City before all courts of common law and administrative law and will act, upon request, as legal advisor to the City’s services.
More specifically, you will be called to:
- Represent the City before all courts of common law and administrative law primarily in civil liability and public law;
- Act as a legal advisor to the City’s services;
- Manage diverse cases;
- Draft formal notices and legal proceedings;
- Negotiate out-of-court settlement agreements;
- Draft legal documents of all kinds for various services;
- Conduct legal research and monitor recent developments;
- Support and contribute to the development of the organization’s legal knowledge.
- Member in good standing of the Quebec Bar for at least six (6) years;
- Relevant experience as a lawyer, particularly in representation before courts and dispute resolution;
