The typical salary range for this position is $36 200.00 - $54 400.00 annually. The base salary offered will be determined based on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity considerations.
This position is an existing temporary, full-time position ending August 28, 2026.
SUMMARY:
The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the legal team across a range of practice areas by reviewing and drafting a variety of contracts, lease related paperwork and employment related documents, under the supervision of a lawyer, while developing practical legal and business skills in an in-house environment.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with in store licensing processes including identifying applicable licensing requirements per store, coordinating the application process, processing renewals, and notifying stores if inspections are required (health, fire, and other regulatory inspections).
- Maintain and organize all records that pertain to the licensing process (business, lottery, propane, tobacco, signs and elevator licenses).
- Gain exposure to a variety of legal practice areas, including real estate, corporate/commercial, marketing/advertising, pharmaceutical and employment/human rights.
- Review and draft a variety of contracts with an emphasis on real estate documentation, such as offers to lease, leases, and lease amending agreements.
- Draft legal correspondence and other supporting legal documentation.
- Prepare legal memorandums and summaries on assigned matters.
- Assist with transactional and administrative legal work as necessary.
- Conduct legal research and summarize findings for the legal team.
- Attend meetings as directed and prepare meeting minutes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in, and working towards completion of a law degree.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Teams
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Independent thinker with a demonstrated willingness to take initiative.
- Proven ability to multitask and meet deadlines and follow up on actions/issues.
